Custom dinnerware for Chef Michael Poiarkoff

When Chef Michael Poiarkoff approached us to create custom dinnerware for The Maker Hotel in Hudson, NY, we were immediately drawn to the opportunity. His vision—to enhance the guest experience through pieces that complemented both his cuisine and the unique atmosphere of the hotel—aligned closely with our own approach to design.

He was developing two signature dishes and sought forms that would elevate their presentation. One required a deep, structured plate—almost a bowl—with vertical walls, designed to frame a composition of seasonal vegetables and protein in a delicate broth. The other was inspired by traditional Moroccan tagines, intended to be revealed tableside for dramatic effect.

We immersed ourselves in the world of The Maker—an environment rich in texture and thoughtfully curated design. In response, we developed a dual-toned collection: a deep forest green for the tagines, and a rich, speckled red for the plates, both finished in a high-gloss clear glaze. The palette was conceived to feel both bold and timeless, echoing the layered aesthetic of the hotel

The tagines maintained the iconic silhouette, while the deep plates were reimagined with flat, weighted bases and clean vertical walls—a form that felt contemporary, functional, and sculptural.

Each piece was designed to participate in the storytelling of the meal, becoming an extension of the chef’s vision and the hotel’s atmosphere. A collaboration that reflects our shared belief in craftsmanship, intention, and the sensory experience of dining.
