Food52 - The Mug Event

We were selected by Food52 to participate in two consecutive editions of their Limited Edition Handmade Mug event—an annual release showcasing 52 ceramicists from across the country.

For both years, we created L’Intentionnel, a series of mugs thrown on the potter’s wheel, then hand-carved and inlaid with colored clay. Once filled, each piece was returned to the wheel and carefully trimmed to reveal fluid, shadow-like patterns—subtle variations that made every mug entirely unique.

The process reflects our ongoing exploration of control and chance in the making process—where repetition gives way to singularity, and each piece becomes a quiet, evocative study in form and gesture.

Both editions sold out shortly after release and remain a defining expression of our studio’s approach to craft and intention.
