Wheel-Throwing Essentials: 4-Part Workshop

Looking to dive into the world of pottery but can't commit to a full session just yet? This condensed course is your perfect opportunity to experience the full pottery process in just a few classes. In this immersive introduction to throwing on a potter's wheel, you'll journey through each step from start to finish.

During the first two classes, you'll learn the basics of throwing on the wheel, setting a strong foundation. The third class will focus on trimming, where you'll clean the bottoms and refine the shapes of your pieces. In the final class, you'll get to glaze your creations, adding the finishing touches.

A couple of weeks later, your beautifully fired pieces will be ready for you to take home. This is your chance to gain a comprehensive pottery experience in a short amount of time, perfect for those with busy schedules or just starting out.

About Alex Vo Duy of AVD Ceramics:

After earning her B.A. in philosophy and a career in biomedical research, Alex

left academia to explore the world and create. Alex’s inspiration comes from the simple forms of the utilitarian pottery from her Filipino heritage. For her, creating a vessel is an abstract meditation on the creation of pure shape. Her
work is also deeply informed by the rich history and science of clay. Alex makes functional objects and sculptural forms with clean modern lines and a nod to ancient forms. Her goal as an artist is to make beautiful objects that make sense in everyday life.
