L'Impatience began in our Brooklyn apartment, where we set up a makeshift studio with a potter's wheel and a few shelves.

We transported our pieces to a local ceramics studio for firing, always anxious about potential breakages during the journey. Many pieces did indeed break, often due to our impatience to see the results too soon—an experience that inspired the name L'Impatience.

Originally from the Loire Valley in France, Benedicte and Jerome’s paths took them from Paris to Canada—Vancouver and then Toronto—before landing in New York.

Before delving into ceramics, we each had distinct careers in advertising—Benedicte as a music producer and Jerome as a creative in top agencies. We worked with leading firms in France, Canada, and the US on high-profile international projects. Despite the exciting work, long hours left us feeling unfulfilled.

After several years in the city and countless weekends exploring upstate New York, we decided to transform our weekend getaways into a full-time pursuit, relocating to the scenic Catskills near Woodstock, NY.
